Rana Chakraborty, MD, D.Phil.
Rana Chakraborty, M.D., D.Phil., is a pediatric infectious disease specialist, with sub-specialty interest in immunology and HIV. His clinical focus includes:
- Expertise in management of HIV in children and adolescents, and perinatal infections.
- Coordination of care and management of infectious diseases in patients with underlying complex conditions including bone and solid organ transplantation and newborn prematurity.
- Promoting understanding of infectious disease conditions, empowering patients to become partners in managing their health, particularly adolescents and young adults.
- Promoting the importance of immunization of vaccine-preventable conditions on a local, state-wide, and nationwide scale.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Chakraborty is active in research and education. His NIH-funded lab investigates placental immunology in the context of HIV, Cytomegalovirus and Zika Virus. He provides mentorship to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, residents, clinical fellows, and junior faculty. He has over a 100-peer reviewed publications, many in high-impact scientific journals.
