Cybernetics and mapping the brain

Cybernetics and mapping the brain

Kai J. Miller, M.D., Ph.D., a neurosurgeon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, discusses his expertise in epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation and eloquent cortex brain tumor surgery, as well as research in brain mapping and deep brain stimulation.

Dr. Miller works to advance cybernetics so that patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, brainstem stroke or a locked-in state are able to communicate independently, by controlling cursors through decoded brain signals.
